THANK YOU VELOCITY TV I DON’T KNOW HOW MY CAR MANAGED TO MOVE UNDER ITS OWN POWER WITHOUT HOT SHOTS (TM) DIESEL WINTER (TM) ANTI-GEL (TM)
EDIT: Apparently either nobody reads this beyond the title or can’t get past the word “stiction” in order to actually get the point of this
UPDATE: There I changed the product so people can quit being so hung up over the word “stiction,” inb4 a million people point out that the pictured product is Hot Shots (TM) Stiction (TM) Eliminator (TM) and not Hot Shots (TM) Diesel Winter (TM) Anti-Gel (TM)

Stiction: actually a real word, and having to do with injector stick on opening.

I need a diction eliminator just to watch this show.
/dick+friction?

That ain’t static friction. That’s rigid body dynamics, baby.

Uh, isn’t “Stiction” derived from “static friction”?
How do you eliminate 100% of that from a rotating assembly at rest?

Yeah, well I’m the author of THE seminal fluid dynamics textbook!

That is not the additive I use, I have Optilube. At least when I got it it had the best independent lab results. it’s too bad the USA has shit cetane ratings.

The legitimate issue in this case isn’t the engine itself, but reciprocating stuff. Say, valves or certain types of injectors. Mostly injectors in a compound pressure system, particularly a Ford. Ordinary mechanical pump setups would benefit more from fuel additive than oil additive, mostly because there’s no way in an old diesel for any quantity of oil to get to the injector nor is it present in any moving parts. A PowerStroke, on the other hand...
Oh, and obviously eliminating 100% of static friction is nonsense, but you knew that. Unless they’re referring to reduction to a statistically insignificant difference from base kinetic friction, which is possible but not accurately described that way.

Those adds annoy the shit out of me. I can understand putting them in the shows that often work with diesels (Truck U), but its out of place on the others.

I’ve never watched those shows, so I had to look it up on YouTube.
